DB Schenker to open $10m Melbourne facility

Logistics giant to continue its Victorian investment with new warehouse

Transport and logistics company DB Schenker is set to unveil a $10 million facility in Truganina, Victoria on November 23.

Creating up to 40 jobs, the German company’s new 14,330 square metre warehouse will be opened by the Victorian minister for industry Lily D’Ambrosio, who welcomes the local investment.

“The opening of this facility in Truganina strengthens DB Schenker’s leading position in Australia for logistics and transportation,” D’Ambrosio says.

“The State Government is working hard to encourage Global businesses like DB Schenker to invest in and grow their operations in Victoria through a number of industry and infrastructure initiatives.”

Schenker Australia CEO Ron Koehler says the company, which employees over 250 people in the Victoria, has invested over $26 million in state over the past six years.

“This is our fourth facility in Victoria which is enhancing our Contract Logistics position in the state and supporting our ongoing growth,” Koehler says.

“Based in the rapidly expanding industrial area, our design & build facility was less constrained than in other traditional industrial areas, and we were able to achieve a design that optimised the storage density and handling efficiency of our customers.

“The net benefit of this facility is a lower overall cost for our customers to deliver their products to the Australian market.”

The new building is located at West Park Estate, at the corner of Efficient Drive and Boundary Road.
