Coates Hire invests in slew of Hiab cranes

Equipment company to receive 90 loader cranes by 2016

Australian equipment hiring company Coates Hire has placed an order for Hiab to deliver and install 90 loader cranes, with the new T Series making up the bulk of the demand.

The Cargotec subsidiary says the deal, which represents over €2 million (A$3.01m) in value, reaffirms its faith in the T Series that launched in May.

“We are delighted to have received this major order in one of our key segments,” Hiab Australia national sales manager Steve Coonan says.

“The T-crane was very positively received when it was launched at the Brisbane truck show in May of this year.

“This important order confirms the market’s interest in this innovative new product line.”

Driven by Hiab’s HybridDrive, the new T Series cranes are designed to be mounted on a light truck and can be run off electricity alone or via a power pack charged by the truck’s engine.

For Coates Hire, the deal is about expanding its customer offering, executive general manager fleet Ashley Lancaster says.

“We lead the market and this investment will ensure we can reduce turnaround and deliver on-time in a safe manner,” Lancaster says.

The loader cranes are expected to be delivered between the end of 2015 and early 2016.
