Volkswagen forms truck supervisory board

New board to develop global strategy for Volkswagen AG’s MAN SE and Scania truck divisions

Holdings group Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH has formed a supervisory board headed by Volkswagen AG’s chairman Martin Winterkorn.

The supervisory board will feature representatives from Volkswagen as well as truck divisions MAN SE and Scania, the company’s commercial vehicle brands which were amalgamated under the Volkswagen Truck & Bus umbrella in May.

To facilitate an environment of equality, the 12-member board, composed on a parity basis, decided on a neutral location in Braunschweig, Germany as the commercial headquarters.

The board will consist of six shareholder representatives and six employee representatives to defend the interests of employees.

“The composition of the supervisory board represents the next big step in strengthening our important commercial vehicles business area,” Winterkorn says.

“The Supervisory Board and management will work together to bring our business in medium and heavy duty trucks with its strong brands of Scania, MAN Truck & Bus and MAN Latin America closer together and to develop it further successfully.”

Member of the board of management of Volkswagen AG and head of Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH, Andreas Renschler believes the board can formulate a successful global strategy.

“In a next step, the management and the supervisory board will draw up the overall strategy for our truck brands,” Renschler says.

“Our stated goal is to develop the alliance between MAN, Scania and MAN Latin America to become a global champion.”

The board’s shareholder members are: Dr Martin Winterkorn, Hans Dieter Pötsch; Dr Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz; Dr Leif Östling; Daniela Behrens; and Dr Ferdinand Oliver Porsche.

The six employee representatives are: Bernd Osterloh; Gunnar Kilian; Athanasios Stimoniaris; Günter Pröbster; Johan Järvklo; and Lisa Lorentzon.
