Michelin tyre network provides more assistance

Michelin’s truck division vows to save operators time and money with new comprehensive tyre management service

Michelin Australia has announced a fuller tyre management service, as part of its offer for truck operators of all sizes.

The Michelin Active Assist program is a 24-hour emergency breakdown service that also provides a follow-up report as a key component – providing expert advice to keep trucks on the road therafter.

“The day after assistance, the report is sent to the Fleet or Workshop Manager describing the details of the breakdown and the solution provided,” Michelin’s commercial director for trucks David Issautier says.

“These reports are then collated monthly to measure various indicators, such as breakdown per kilometre, incidents per state, and a location summary.”

This ensures each incident is not just looked at individually, but over the whole fleet, so trends are easily identified.

“This will allow our teams to work with our customers to improve their tyre management and ultimately reduce their operating costs,” Issautier says.

Under the system, Michelin has a toll-free number for drivers to connect with Active Assist.

They are then connected with the nearest dealer or service centre, who determines the fastest and safest solution.
