Navistar displays new ProStar and announces more features for OnCommand.
A new ProStar truck from Navistar in the United States has been unveiled as the company’s most fuel efficient truck.
Navistar used an American Trucking Associations event to show off its heavy hauler, which comes with Eaton’s SmartAdvantage automated manual transmission partnered with a Cummins ISX15 engine.
The ProStar also includes features that automatically sense vehicle weight, grade and operating gear to select the best torque to optimise fuel economy and performance.
“Our ProStar with ISX15 coupled with the Eaton Cummins SmartAdvantage powertrain is our most fuel efficient Class 8 spec and our customers are already seeing impressive results,” Navistar executive Jodi Presswood says.
Navistar says Cummins’ vehicle acceleration management system also helps maintain a more consistent acceleration rate to deliver a smoother experience for the driver and reduce wear on the driveline.
Navistar also used the ATA event to announce it will introduce new features in November for its remote diagnostics OnCommand Connection system.
New capabilities include a mobile app, customized geo-fencing capabilities to allow customers to filter their dashboards into geographic zones, and direct integration with major component suppliers beginning with Cummins.
Navistar says integrating the system with Cummins means customers will be able to view Cummins recommendations via the OnCommand Connection portal.
