ATA reduces registration cost for Technical and Maintenance Conference

Full delegate registration is $495 for the 2014 Technical and Maintenance Conference in Melbourne.

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has dropped the cost of registration for the trucking industry’s premier technical and maintenance event.

The ATA has announced that registration for the Technical and Maintenance Conference (TMC) will be $495 – the same cost as a decade ago.

“We want every workshop to be able to send their staff to TMC,” the ATA says.

The TMC will be held at the Automotive Centre of Excellence in Melbourne from Monday October 27 to Wednesday October 29.

Registration includes the full conference as well as the Paccar Parts TMC Funhouse, the Castrol Vecton Awards Dinner, the Eaton Industries lunch and the Cummins Lunch.

The conference will include a Safety First Program.

“TMC 2014 puts compliance and safety-critical maintenance first, with a heavy focus on essential maintenance areas such as brakes, tyres, suspension and couplings,” the ATA says.

Delegates can move between multiple streams covering technical sessions, compliance forums and hands-on product training workshops.

There will also be an emphasis on the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS).

“The national heavy vehicle inspection manual and NHVAS reviews have the potential to drastically change the way operators look after their fleet,” the ATA says.

National Transport Commission (NTC) CEO Paul Retter and National Heavy Vehicle Regulator CEO Sal Petroccitto will discuss the progress of the reviews and how they see inspections being carried out in future.

In a session titled ‘What’s Bugging Inspectors?’ inspectors from Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria will sit down with attendees and discuss their side of the story, including common faults seen on the roadside, inspection processes and trends in each state.

There will also be hands-on product training workshops delivered by leading industry suppliers including Cummins, SAF Holland, Knorr-Bremse, BPW Transpec, Mitsubishi Electric, Eaton and Stemco.

Meanwhile, the TMC Supplier Marketplace will include stalls, products and advice from more than 20 industry suppliers.
