A recall notice has been issued on more than 500 Meritor CS trailer suspensions.

The suspensions were supplied nationally through MaxiParts outlets.

A notice issued by Product Recalls Australia warns that affected axles may crack.

The notice says this may occur either around the trailing arm attachment to the beam, or at the welds attaching the booster and cam brackets to the axle beam.

"If the defect occurs, this poses a risk of property damage or severe injury," it says.

The notice says consumers should inspect the axle(s), and contact MaxiTrans on (03) 5339 0345 to arrange for replacement of the axle or axles if required.
