Hino recall over propeller shaft problem

Centre bearing support bracket of the propeller shaft might come off in more than 100 light duty 300 series trucks.

Product Recalls Australia has issued a recall notice on certain Hino 300 Series light-duty trucks.

The recall involves a centre bearing bracket on the propeller shaft in 105 trucks.

“In the subject vehicles, the bolts and nuts fixing the centre bearing support bracket of the propeller shaft have been tightened to the incorrect torque,” the notice states.

“In the worst case scenario, if the vehicle is continued to be used without repairing, the subject bracket may come off, ultimately causing the propeller shaft to fall onto the road.

“This may pose a hazard to the driver and other road users.”

The notice says all owners of affected vehicles will be contacted individually by letter.

”The remedy will be to replace the subject bolts and nuts with the enhanced ones and tighten them to the specified torque,” it says.
