Steelbro Sidelifters looking for a fresh start

Expressions of interest advertised for container lifting technology manufacturer

Buyers are being sought for container loading technology provider Steelbro Sidelifters.

It is not clear to what extent this is to be a sale of the Steelbro Group or a divestment of its highest-profile product but the latter seems likely.

Other arms of the venerable New Zealand firm that started business in 1878, are Transtank, Fuelgear and Freightquip.

Both Australian-based Steelbro Group representatives and business services firm KPMG, which is handling expressions of interest (EOI), referred ATN requests for information to the company’s headquarters in Christchurch.

Prospective buyers are being lured by the operation’s reputation and international profile.

KPMG’s advertisement makes mention of its fully-owned presence in Australia and Malaysia and manufacturing facility in China’s Tianjin, as well as sales in 70 countries over the past 11 years.

The deadline for EOI is September 2.
