Possible danger of short-circuit affecting engine if bolt contacts wires
Hino 300 Series owners can expect contact from their dealers over an obscure item that could cause the engine to stall in certain circumstances.
The issue centres on how part of the air conditioner is attached.
“The threaded end of the bolt installed on the air conditioner condenser bracket faces the slit of the corrugated tube of the wire harness and under certain operating conditions, such threaded end of the bolt may cause interference with the wires of the wire harness through the slit of the corrugated tube,” the light truck’s recall notice reads.
“This interference may damage the wires, causing a short circuit resulting in the engine stalling.”
All vehicles involved will have the following works carried out in accordance with the Hino work procedure sheet:
- change the mounting direction of the bolt and nut installed on the air conditioner condenser bracket
- remove the designated portion of the corrugated tube and confirm that none of the wires in the wire harness, inside the corrugated tube are damaged
- repair the wires if damaged and replace the removed portion of the corrugated tube.
