ComVec 2014 to deliver real-world information relevant to heavy vehicle equipment suppliers/installers and truck operators and fleet managers
ComVec 2014, to be held on May 27 to 28 at the Royal International Convention Centre at the Brisbane Showgrounds, will focus entirely on delivering real-world information and facts relevant to heavy vehicle body builders, trailer manufacturers, equipment suppliers/installers, vehicle repairers, truck operators and fleet managers.
Sponsored by TradeTrucks.com.au, the program includes two streams: one an engineering stream which will cover industry policy and standards, new product innovation and technology; and the other, new for 2014, involving new truck model presentations and displays.
The new truck model technology stream will be presented by leading engineers and product specialists from Hino, DAF, Iveco, Fuso, Cat Trucks, Isuzu, Avia, Smith Electric and Volvo Group Australia.
This unique stream will provide up-to-date information on the latest offerings from the manufacturers presented by their engineering staff as well as hands-on displays with vehicles brought into the centre.
The sessions will be based on body building and final fit-out information with time allowed for questions and hands-on experience with the vehicles.
This stream is a must for fleet managers, body builders and anyone involved in fitting equipment to vehicles prior to their use.
The engineering stream will be led by industry and regulatory technical experts covering up-to-date and future developments. Attendees will have the ability to speak to and query leading vehicle and component manufacturers, performance based standards (PBS) experts and state and federal jurisdictions, including the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
Attendees will enjoy a presentation by an electric truck operator on the real-world experience of using the vehicle.
The presentations on vehicle aerodynamics, body builders do’s and don’ts as well as the Vehicle Standards Bulletin (VSB) 6 Heavy Vehicle Modification Code of Practice session on body mounting and chassis will also be of particular interest.The not-to-be-missed sessions promise to be the two panel discussions. One will be held each day, with Tuesday featuring a discussion on 2.6m vehicle width and Wednesday’s discussion on future vehicle standards. Panel members are all industry specialists with expansive knowledge and interest in these issues.
Information and attendee comments and opinions gained during these sessions will be used in future negotiations in relation to the topics. The NHVR will also be represented by Angus Draheim, General Manager Operations, who will provide the very latest industry update; and Les Brusza and Greg Swann from Vehicle Standards on the panel sessions.
Registration at ComVec entitles the attendees to participate in either stream and to mix and match between the streams.
The opportunities for networking at ComVec are unlimited. The attendees are in many cases industry decision makers. ComVec is also providing a two-hour cocktail networking session on Tuesday evening from 4:30 to 6:30pm.
