Renault launches new low-roof van

Renault is launching a low-roof Renault Master van called the L1H1.

Renault’s new L1H1 master van aims to be particularly suited to city driving through a combination of a 12m turning circle and a shorter length. With a capacity of 8m3, the new L1H1 finds a niche between the 6m3 Trafic LWB and the larger 10.8m3 Master MWB.

“The L1H1 is almost the same length as a typical large Australian family sedan, so it can fit into metered parking spaces, a big advantage over some rivals,” Renault LCV Model Line Manager Lyndon Healey says.

The L1H1 features the same engine as other Renault Master models, meaning that it is Euro-5 compliant, and outputs 150hp (112 kW) from its 2.3 litre, four-cylinder diesel engine.

“The combination of the frugal, clean and punchy 2.3-litre turbo-diesel engine and a choice of manual or automated six-speed gearboxes, plus the refined, quiet and comfortable ride, has proven to be a winner in the competitive Australian market to date,” Healey says.

In comparison to the L2H2 Master that has been available in Australia for two years, the L1H1 is 500mm shorter and 195mm lower. The L1H1 is also a front-wheel drive, meaning that there is a low step-in height for the load bay.

“Master has been a sales success so far and we intend to build on this with the new Low Roof L1H1,” Healey says.

The L1Hi is available to buy right now at a price of $39,990, or $42,490 for the automated Quickshift versions.
