ABT gets ADR approval for waste truck brakes

Advanced Braking Technology receives approval to fit waste truck brakes to Iveco Acco

November 19, 2013

Advanced Braking Technology (ABT) has gained approval to fit its sealed wet braking system for waste trucks to Iveco’s Acco models.

The Australian Design Rules (ADR) approval means ABT or its authorised agents can fit the brakes to any new Iveco Acco 6×4 and Iveco Acco 6×4 dual control models throughout the country.

The approval comes amid the announcement of ABT as a finalist in the Innovation Award category at the Australian Waste & Recycling Expo to be held this month.

“Our waste truck brakes are designed and certified to exacting ADR requirements, and to be recognised by the waste industry for an award that delivers not only innovation but also genuine savings to the bottom line shows that we’ve got a really compelling product,” ABT manager Sam Leighton says.

ABT recently secured orders for several local councils and commercial operators in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia for its waste truck brakes.

The company says its seal integrated braking system (SIBS) technology potentially eliminates the need for brake overhauls.

It says the braking system encloses key components – the single rotor, brake callipers and brake pads – within a casing containing the SIBS fluid.

ABT says the enclosed wet brake technology enables a cooler operating temperature to provide longer lasting, low maintenance and safer braking.
