Voorhoeve to head Volvo in Australia

Move from Singapore follows Knaben's exit to lead truckmaker's UK and Ireland business

October 3, 2013

Volvo has appointed Peter Voorhoeve to the managing director’s role for its Australian operation.

Voorhoeve’s new title will be Vice President Asia Oceania Sales Region Australia, having previously been Vice President Aftermarket Asia Oceania.

He will report to Senior Vice President Asia Oceania Sales Christophe Martin, who is based in Singapore.

Voorhoeve takes the reins from former MD Arne Knaben who has moved to a similar position at Volvo Trucks UK and Ireland.

He will assume responsibility for the Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, UD Trucks and Renault brands in the Oceania region and their respective markets.

The Oceania region comes under the umbrella of Volvo’s Asia Pacific Region (APAC) and includes New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia and French Polynesia as well as Australia.

“Voorhoeve has a strong international background within the Volvo Group with experience in Volvo Parts and Action Service as well as within APAC,” the truckmaker says.

He is expected to commence his new role in November at a time when the global company is undertaking a wide-ranging efficiency drive.

However, Volvo is keeping the details of what this means for the Australian operation close to its chest.

“The details within the framework of the program will be communicates as decisions are made,” a spokeswoman at group headquarters in Gothenberg says.
