South Australian trailer combination includes a variety of interesting features
June 21, 2013
Trailer manufacturer Lusty EMS has come up with a customised lead slider and chassis tipper B-double set for South Australian operator Gericke Bulk.
Among other things, Gericke wanted a more efficient method of tipping grain from the lead trailer to eliminate the build-up of grain between the guards and to allow a cleaner and faster tip.
Lusty EMS engineers in Queensland came up with a centre tip-through chute system, integrated between the front and centre axle group and extending to the top of the guards.
The chassis for both trailers are built using ‘Domex’, a 700 grade high tensile steel Lusty EMS says helps reduce overall tare weight of the combination by about three quarters of a tonne while maintaining strength and durability.
There are also digital scales on each trailer, two locks on the access doors, front lift-axles on both trailers to reduce tyre wear and fuel use when running empty, and remote controlled electric tarps.
