JAC has commenced its assault on the Australian market with the release of its competitively priced light truck range.

The J range of light-duty trucks spans the 4.5 to 7.5 tonne GVM segment of the market with the entry level J45 model priced at just $36,389.

JAC trucks will be supported through the WMC dealer network and backed by a two to three year warranty.

The trucks feature Cummins engines, ZF transmissions as well Wabco and Bosch braking components. Interest in the distributor network is reported to be growing with CMV, Adtrans, Macquarie and AHG already on board.

“While we know we have a clear price advantage, our proposition is about much more than the sticker price. It will be about whole of life cost of ownership and confidence in the product,” JAC CEO Jason Pecotic says.

“It will mean that while having a significantly lower initial purchase price, JAC buyers will enjoy the confidence that they have purchased a truck that will be reliable, cost effective and have the after sales back up that matches anything else in the market.”

The heavier duty J65 and J75 models feature a 3.8-litre Cummins Euro 5 ISF turbo diesel engine producing 104Kw at 2600rpm and 450Nm of torque at 1300rpm and backed by a six- speed JAC (J75) or five- speed (J65) manual transmission.

The J45 model uses Cummins ISF power, and the 2.8-litre version uses the five- speed gearbox. The 2.8 litre ISF is reported to develop 81kW at 3200rpm with maximum torque of 360Nm at 1800rpm.

Both Cummins ISF engines rely on selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology to meet ADR80/03 (Euro 5) emission regulations.

Standard features on all three JAC light-duty models include ABS anti-lock braking, electronic brake distribution (EBD), an audio system, power windows, air-conditioning, remote central locking, door pockets, cup holders and entry assist handles.
