A new boss for Volvo commercial vehicle operations in Australia could also herald in a new name for the Swedish manufacturer.

After trading as Volvo Commercial Vehicles Australia, or the mouthful of an acronym VCVA, outgoing boss Peter Hertinge let slip in an interview with ATN a new umbrella name for Volvo in the local market.

Volvo Group Australia will be the new name for the company that now suppliers Mack and UD trucks along with Volvo badged-vehicles.

While Hertinge insists the change will have no impact on day-to-day operations, it could signal more changes ahead in marketing and sales strategy for the global manufacturer.

Hertinge has been recalled to Sweden, the company announced in May, with new boss Arne Knaben to take up the reigns from September 1.

Volvo's new boss Arne Knaben speaks about the company's future in Australia in the September edition of ATN magazine, out on August 31.
