Briefcase breath tests trucks

Emission Services has released a portable emissions tester to track and control a truck's carbon output

The increased focus on emission controls for heavy transport has some operators worried about overstepping the mark, but a new development from Emission Services could be the solution.

Called the Emissions Briefcase, the device is a portable emissions tester to assess fleet performance and highlight repairs.

Emission Services is the commercial arm of Diesel Test Australia, specialists in the design, development and manufacture of emission measuring equipment, the provision of vehicle engine emission test advisory services and technical advice on fuels and air quality management to government and industry.

The device uses remote connectivity to relay the real time emissions profile of each vehicle to the test driver, measuring smoke, particulate matter, NOx, with the optional features CO & CO2 available.

It offers a means for responsible companies to track their emission levels and also offers government bodies a tool for managing air pollution, with the Roads and Transport Authority in New South Wales purchasing two units.

The Emissions Briefcase is an alternative to the fixed and mobile facilities provided nationally by Emission Services, which offers the Government authorised DT80 emissions test to diesel vehicles seeking to secure the diesel fuel rebate (18.51c/ltr) for two years.
