Restrain your transport load the Freighter way

Freighter unveiled a new load hold curtain at last week’s inaugural International Trailer Truck and Equipment Show in Melbourne.

Designed to provide legal load restraint for a wide range of cargoes, the Freighter Load Hold Curtain will fulfill a demand for a gateless road restraint option for T-Liner trailers.

The Load Hold Curtain resembles a normal T-Liner, but closer inspection reveals some important differences.

By using a pocketed curtain, the upper straps are replaced with ultra high-strength pultrusions that run from the curtain track down within the curtain and attaching to conventional buckles and high-strength straps at the base.

The pultrusion is composed of high-density longitudinal fibreglass strands that have been blended with high-strength resin in an extrusion machine to create a longitudinal strap that has a very high glass-to-resin ratio. The result is a member that has high strength and very little stretch.

The pultrusions are fastened to rollers at the top of the curtain and to the buckle at the bottom. The buckle is mounted closer to the coaming rail than on a T-Liner and is secured to the coaming rail by an extra high-strength strap and hook.

A major advance in curtain-sided restraint systems, the Load Hold Curtain meets the National Transport Commission’s Load Restraint Guide requirements for specified loads without the need for gates or other traditional restraint devices.

The system as standard is rated to 1,200kg per pallet space for unitised loads up to full trailer height.

Where a unique load or application is required, Freighter engineers can evaluate load restraint compliance using this new system alone or in conjunction with other more traditional restraint devices.

Ultimately, it will be the road transport operator who will experience significant advantages including faster loading and unloading cycles and no gates to manhandle or lose. The reduced use of gates in particular will provide OH&S benefits, giving drivers less to worry about as well as contributing to significant cost savings.

The Load Hold Curtain will initially be available on all straight deck T-Liner models.
