Posties pass on buckles

Australia Post trials first rigid truck fitted with Freighter's EziLiner curtain system to improve productivity and reduce OH&S concerns

Australia Post is trialling the first rigid truck fitted with Freighter’s EziLiner curtain system in a bid to improve productivity and reduce operator OH&S concerns.

Originally designed with curtain side semi-trailer and B-Double operators in mind, the EziLiner eliminates the buckles and straps normally found in those units, replacing them with air-operated loops of high tensile cable, remotely controlled by the driver.

With the trial of the rigid truck to be conducted along some of Australia Post’s routes where multiple drops are conducted, a cross section of its drivers will test and provide valuable feedback to management regarding its freight task suitability.

Chris Pearce, Australia Post’s Surface Transport Manager, is looking forward to the results of the trial, saying the postal delivery giant has a fleet of over 10,000 vehicles and is constantly looking for innovative technology that improves the efficiency of the business.

“We’ve worked closely with Freighter’s fleet management team to adapt their solution to help us improve our services and just as importantly, ensure our drivers needs are being looked after,” Pearce says.

Since its release to market, the EziLiner is proving to be a popular choice by both large transport companies and owner operators and has recently been licensed by Freighter for European manufacture to Krone, one of Europe’s largest trailer manufacturers.
