Peters screams for ice cream ERP

Peters Ice Cream recently signed with software company Infor to provide a complete ERP system

April 15, 2013

Logistics planning is seldom more time-critical than at a company like Peters Ice Cream, which strives to make sure its ice cream is still ice cream when it is delivered to retail outlets.

With that in mind, Peters Ice Cream recently signed with software company Infor to provide a complete Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in about seven months.

According to Infor, Peters urgently needed to change its generic ERP system after Pacific Equity Partners bought the company in August 2012.

Despite the change of ownership, Peters was still operating on Nestlé’s ERP system.

But Peters is now preparing to upgrade to Infor’s M3 QuickStep for Food and Beverage solution.

An Infor statement says the system can be quickly rolled out.

“Peters’ network of freezers extends to all corners of the country,” the statement says.

“With such a vast footprint, it is essential that information on stock levels and deliveries is up to date and available in real time.”

Peters Transition Manager Jonathan Hutchings says Peters continues to be supported by Nestlé’s IT infrastructure, including its ERP system.

“It is important to the new management team that we rapidly establish Peters own IT backbone and ERP solution to support the business and our change agenda,” he says.

Infor Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Ian Desbrow says the Infor M3 QuickStep solution’s advantage is its pre-configured business processes for specific industries.

“Anyone can tell you that implementing a complete ERP system in seven and a half months is challenging – but we expect to successfully do just that,” he says.
