Smith’s Snackfood facility to have 12 levels of stacking and high-end materials handling solutions
Dematic is to build an advanced warehouse in Adelaide for PepsiCo’s Australian snacks division, The Smith’s Snackfood Company.
The warehouse logistics and materials handling technology firm says it intends to complete the high bay warehouse at Smith’s Regency Park manufacturing facility in Adelaide in early August.
“It would be similar to Dematic’s highest high bay warehouse projects in recent times,” a spokesperson says.
The automated storage and retrieval system will consist of four new RapidStore storage retrieval machines (SRMs), double-deep pallet racking, pallet conveyors, automatic guided vehicles, associated control systems, and Dematic’s warehouse control system (WCS).
The system will support Smith’s distribution network which operates from the Regency Park manufacturing site.
“This high bay warehouse is another step in our ongoing relationship with Smith’s,” David Rubie, who manages of the food and beverage sector at Dematic, says.
“The Smith’s order is the second ANZ high bay warehouse project to integrate Dematic’s new, RapidStore SRMs, in conjunction with Australian manufactured Colby racking systems.”
