Pental grips Pears soap supply deal

Australia’s largest soap manufacturer wins deals to distribute Pears soap products in Australia and New Zealand

May 20, 2013

Australia’s largest soap manufacturer, Pental Limited (PTL) will distribute Pears soap bar, shower gel and hand wash products in Australia and New Zealand, under a new agreement.

Pental today announced to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) it had entered into a three-year exclusive distribution agreement with Unilever India Exports for Pears products.

Pental expects the agreement will add gross sales of about $5 million a year.

PTL CEO Alan Fisher says PTL’s strategy is to expand its consumer products business.

He says distributing Unilever’s Pears soap brand through existing sales channels gives PTL greater presence and market share.

“While we have only just executed the agreement, given our excellent relationship with Unilever we have been distributing the product since January 7 this year,” Fisher says in a statement.

The agreement is subject to usual terms around minimal sales levels.

Pental supplies Australia with its brands Country Life, Natural Selections, Sunlight, Velvet, Knights Castile and Lux Flakes.
