Toll Group has appointed Penske Australia as a strategic original equipment (OEM) manufacturer partner, with deliveries on a new contract to provide over 180 Western Star and MAN trucks to commence immediately.
A-Double, B-Double and single-trailer rated prime movers are all included in the contract in both bonneted and overcab configurations.
There is also potential to provide prime movers capable of pulling quad configurations in the future.
“Our national fleet team worked very closely with the Toll Group to tender a submission that was a bespoke fit for the unique requirements of Toll,” Executive General Manager of On-Highway at Penske Australia.
“The Western Star X-Series and the MAN truck generation both have exceptionally efficient fuel burn rates, innovative technology and an overall total cost of ownership package that is highly attractive.
“Our team is excited to commence this strategic partnership with Toll Group, particularly given the synergies in our overarching corporate values that guide our operations.”
The Western Star X-Series was named the 2024 winner of the Truck of the Year Australasia award and boasts Star durability, an advanced safety package, an efficient integrated driveline and superior comfort.
MAN’s truck generation boasts excellent safety features, high levels of efficiency and a comfortable driver workspace backed by a 250-year history.
General Manager of Global Fleet Manager at Toll Group Shaun O’Flaherty says the deal with Penske was struck after extensive consideration.
“Following a rigorous selection process, we’re thrilled to be working with a global organisation such as Penske that shares our values,” O’Flaherty says.
“We’re confident the combination of Penske’s partnership together with economical, safe and modern Western Star and MAN fleet will improve the driver experience, safety for all road users, and yield a successful partnership for Toll and its customers for years to come.”
