Former Mack, Volvo man arrives from Queensland Truck Centre in newly created role
Wayne Wallace has been announced as general manager – retail truck sales at Penske Power Systems.
In a newly created role, Wallace will be tasked with leading truck sales for Penske Power Systems’ selling dealerships in Brisbane, Darwin, Mackay, Perth, Sydney, and Townsville, as well as Penske’s used trucks operations.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the Penske team,” Wallace says. “As I look across our truck brands, the opportunities are tremendous.”
Wallace has decades of sales and service experience in the trucking industry, plying his trade at Mack, Volvo Group Australia, and most recently at the Queensland Truck Centre, where he was general manager for several years.
The new role comes after Penske Power Systems was last year appointed by Penske Commercial Vehicles as a retail dealer of Western Star Trucks, MAN Truck & Bus, and Dennis Eagle.
“It’s time for the Australian truck market to discover what makes MAN one of the leading truck brands in the world, with the new 640-horsepower, XXL cab added to the D38 flagship range to prove it.
“On the North American side, I’m in awe of Western Star. It’s a powerful line-up, an Australian icon that is a perfect fit for so many customers with heavy duty requirements.
“And while I’ve only recently gotten to know the Dennis Eagle, from what I’ve seen, there is no better refuse truck solution in the market. It has all the safety features that councils and private waste companies demand.”
Penske Power Systems managing director Hamish Christie-Johnston welcomed Wallace to the new position.
“As a ‘voice of the customer’, Wayne will also work closely with our general managers of operations to ensure we exceed our customers’ service expectations,” Christie-Johnston says.
“As a distributor of the MTU, Detroit, and Allison Transmission brands, Penske Power Systems has built a hard-earned reputation as a provider of excellent customer service and superior products.
“And since first being appointed as a dealer by Penske Commercial Vehicles last year, we have worked hard to provide this same level of outstanding service and products to our truck customers. Wayne’s appointment emphasises the vital importance that this is to our business.”
Wallace will be based at the Wacol dealership in Queensland.
