Penske partnership part of Toll $200 million fleet refresh

Toll Group has deal to acquire 180 vehicles from Penske is part of a larger 400-plus vehicle fleet refresh across its Australian operations

Toll Group’s recently announced partnership with Penske is part of a wider $200 million investment in its heavy vehicle fleet, the company says.

Last week’s announcement revealed the news that Penske would provide 180 Western Star and MAN trucks to Toll Group in a combination of A-Double, B-Double and single-trailer combinations, with deliveries on the contract to start effective immediately.

Alongside the deal with Penske, Toll’s fleet renewal investment will also involve partnerships with Volvo Group Australia and Isuzu for the overall introduction of almost 400 Euro 6 prime movers and 20 rigid vehicles.

The fleet refresh has already started as of October 2024 and precedes plans to further renew the company’s fleet across its Asian operations.

Toll General Manager, Global Fleet Management Shaun O’Flaherty says improvement in emissions has been a key driver of the fleet renewal

“Our new fleet will feature the latest Euro 6 engines and improved fuel efficiency which is expected to reduce emissions by five to ten per cent,” O’Flaherty says.

“The new vehicles are automatic with advanced in-cabin ergonomics and safety features including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, driver fatigue cameras and onboard telematics that enhance the overall driver experience.”
