Peki delivers milestone trailer

Trailer manufacturer Peki's 1000th-built trailer has also helped Nolan's Transport celebrate its 100th anniversary

Trailer manufacturer Peki’s 1000th-built trailer has also helped Nolan’s Transport celebrate its 100th anniversary.

The Peki Sub Zero semi-trailer, designed to operate at temperatures down to -18°C, will provide Nolan’s with added capacity to distribute dairy products, ice cream, frozen food and other frozen products.

As expected from a trailer dedicated to delivering chilled and frozen goods, it features fully insulated walls, floor, roof and doors for superior thermal efficiency.

The side wall thickness combined with the high profile airflow aluminium floor makes the trailer particularly suitable for the loading and transportation of palletised frozen products whilst maintaining low temperature performance.

Nolan’s Interstate Transport dates back to the early 1900s when Robert Hawck used a horse and cart to transport milk, cream and timber through the harsh climatic conditions of Queensland’s Lockyer Valley.

The company slowly began to grow and soon Robert’s son George and partner Mick Nolan became heavily involved in the business.

After George retired, Mick accepted the business responsibilities with his son Terry and wife Daphne and today, the family-owned and operated business operates over 100 prime movers and trailers servicing Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and the rest of Australia delivering fresh produce, meat, confectionery and dairy products.

The relationship between Peki and Nolan’s has also been lengthy, as acknowledged by Flea Nolan, driver manager for the company, who says the trailers have always met critical temperature requirements.

In keeping with the trailer marking such important milestones, it features stainless steel rear door hardware with heavy duty cam locks and hinges, polished Alcoa Dura Bright aluminium wheels, polished stainless steel mudguards with antispray mud flaps fitted over each axle, heavy duty galvanised bumper bar with polished aluminium infill panels at rear and is rounded off with a matching aluminium toolbox and water tank.

Complementing the galvanized steel frame is an array of lighting, with multiple multi-volt LED clear and red clearance lights have been added to the front, rear and side rails of the unit whilst additional LED lights appear in the bottom and corner rails, while a double bank of multi-volt LED combination tail lights has also been recessed into the rear panel.

While the trailer features plenty of glitz, it is designed for serious work, as evidenced by a Thermo-King SLX refrigeration unit, selected specifically for its reduced plant fuel usage and quiet operation, as well as the inclusion of a fully installed double loader system, optimising payload capacity by allowing palletised products to be loaded on top of each other.

To commemorate Peki’s and Nolan’s milestone, the trailer will feature digitally designed graphics on either side of the trailer which has been completed by Total Fleet Imaging in Queensland.
