A two-day conference on Performance Based Standards will be held in Melbourne on March 5 and 6.

The conference is being organised by the Australian Road Transport Suppliers Association (ARTSA).

ARTSA says there are now more than 1,000 PBS combinations operating on Australian roads, six years since the heavy vehicle scheme began.

The conference will be co-hosted by the new National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), the National Transport Commission (NTC), VicRoads, the Truck Industry Council (TIC) and the Victorian Transport Association (VTA).

ARTSA says the conference aims to bring together “all the major players” including vehicle certifiers, truck and trailer manufacturers and transport operators with PBS experience.

“Open forums will encourage lively two-way debate on all the issues including OEM self-certification, blueprint designs, assessment and certification challenges, accredited sub-assemblies, suspension and tyre specification, road access and much more,” ARTSA says.

There is a limit of 100 places.
