OneStop, IMG partner to launch Kenwick Intermodal Terminal

Kenwick IMT in Perth’s south-east is set to operate as an inland port, and will improve freight efficiency in the region

Supply chain optimisation company OneStop extended its partnership with Intermodal Group (IMG) to include its newest facility, West Australia’s Kenwick Intermodal Terminal.

The partnership is set to streamline operations at the Kenwick IMT, which will provide an additional 2000 TEU for empty container storage.

Rail operations between the IMT – in Perth’s south-east – and North Quay Rail Terminal commenced this week, with a dedicated Watco Australia operated rail service set to enhance supply chain efficiency across the region.

The expansion of the IMT will deliver numerous supply chain benefits to the region including:

  • Service opportunities: The increased TEU capacity will attract new shipping lines to IMG’s facilities.
  • Cost reduction for transport operators: The ability to return empty containers to the same area they were picked up from will reduce transport operator costs while increasing efficiency.
  • Streamlining container movements: Kenwick IMT will serve as an inland port with rail services transporting containers to Fremantle Port.

IMG Vice President Intermodal Adam Lebihan says the launch of the facility represents an overall improvement to metropolitan West Australia’s logistics infrastructure.

“The launch of the Kenwick Intermodal Terminal is a significant step forward in our mission to enhance Western Australia’s logistics infrastructure,” Lebihan says.

“Partnering with OneStop to implement their advanced OneStop Modal and VBS solutions underscores our commitment to adopting innovative technologies that improve operational efficiency and service delivery.

“This collaboration will not only boost our capacity, but provide substantial benefits to our customers, enabling smoother, more cost-effective container movements across the region.”
