A truck driver will face court charged with drink driving and another has been booked possessing dangerous drugs after police finished an operation targeting heavy vehicles.
The 7-hour operation was held about 30 minutes north of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway yesterday and intercepted 383 vehicles, including 234 semi-trailers and 149 cars.
“Officers conducted 143 RBT [random breath tests], with a 44-year-old Narangba man being charged with heavy vehicle drink driving after he allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.026 percent,” a police statement reads.
The unnamed driver will appear in a local court later this month, while the driver charged with possessing dangerous drugs will have his case heard on February 23 next year.
Police allege the 36-year-old man was also using radar detectors.
“Officers also conducted 90 heavy vehicle drug tests,” the police statement says.
Police also issued 11 traffic infringement notices to drivers who were caught speeding, failing to wear their seatbelts, using mobile phones while driving, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
