NUW signals industrial action at Linfox

Union gains approval to ballot Linfox employees about taking industrial action.

Linfox’s warehousing operation in New South Wales is facing the prospect of strike action as part of union efforts to reach a new workplace agreement with the company.

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has approved the National Union of Workers’ (NUW) application to ballot its members based at Linfox’s Erskine Park facility about taking industrial action.

The NUW has been cleared to seek support for workplace stoppages ranging from one to 72 hours, strikes for an entire week, indefinite strikes and indefinite or periodic bans on overtime.

The NUW has until early September to conduct the ballot. It has been in discussions with Linfox about a new enterprise agreement.

FWC vice president Adam Hatcher says Linfox did not oppose the NUW’s application.

The union earlier this year took industrial action against Linfox in Victoria over a workplace agreement dispute.
