NTI backs 2019 Burrumbuttock Hay Run

Farmer support initiative gets sustained support

Heavy vehicle insurer, National Transport Insurance (NTI), is returning for a third year as a major sponsor of the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners.

The move comes as the initiative gained recent support from Freightliner.

Brendan ‘Bumpa’ Farrell founded the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners in 2014, providing essential resources to drought stricken farmers.

The insurer is sponsoring the first run of 2019 and will be along for the three-day journey in the fully restored NTI 1946 Ford Jailbar.

NTI’s CEO, Tony Clark, says it’s important to recognise this is an ongoing issue and it’s the long term continuation of support that helps make a difference.

“Droughts don’t happen overnight, and they can’t be overcome overnight. Our farmers are relying on the ongoing support to make a real impact,” he says.

“Thousands of Australians, and generations of families, dedicate their lives to sustaining agriculture in our unforgiving climate.

“The Burrumbuttock Hay Runners show the true spirit of this country through the combined efforts of volunteers, businesses, and community groups who donate their time and resources – year after year.”

The hay run will take place 24-26 January 2019 and stretch from Darlington Point (NSW) to Quilpie (Qld).
