NTC pledges to honour Dimopoulos’s legacy

Organisation says it is important it continues to support national regulators and monitor the outcome of the reforms

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has pledged to honour its late CEO Nick Dimopoulos’s legacy by continuing to deliver reforms he was passionate about.

NTC Acting CEO George Konstandakos says it is important the organisation continues to support the new national rail and heavy vehicle regulators and monitor the outcome of the reforms.

The NTC held a collaborative planning workshop with governments and the industry in December to assist with the preparation of its 2013-14 work program and strategic plan for the next three years, he says.

The NTC will incorporate the workshop’s outcomes into the design of its draft work program and strategic plan, which will be sent to the Transport and Infrastructure Senior Officials Committee (TISOC) for approval in March.

The funeral for Dimopoulos will be held in Balwyn tomorrow.

Federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese, the Australian Trucking Association (ATA), the Australian Logistics Council (ALC) and Dimopoulos’s colleagues at the NTC have all paid tribute to him as a champion of transport reform.
