Norton White bolsters stocks with triple appointment

Transport law firm expands team, eyes Asia-Pacific clientele

Transport law specialist Norton White has expanded its operations with the appointments of Alexis Cahalan and Danella Wilmshurst as partners and Janine Liang as a senior associate.

The firm notes Cahalan and Wilmshurst are highly regarded maritime, logistics and insurance lawyers who prior to joining Norton White led the Thomas Miller Law practice in Australia.

The new appointments follow Norton White’s recent announcement of new partner Adam Martin, the former Toll Group chief legal officer, to lead the firm’s mergers and acquisitions practice.

According to senior partner Ben Martin, the appointments are significant to the continued expansion of Norton White, with a number of significant clients in the Asia-Pacific region anticipated to utilise the firm.

“As we expand Norton White’s regional presence we have strengthened our range of services, adding depth to our maritime and shipping practice,” Martin says.

“Alexis, Danella and Janine are renowned practitioners in the shipping and logistics industries.

“Lawyers of their calibre greatly enhance the service we can provide to clients and reaffirms our commitment to the industry and its insurers.”

Cahalan adds: “Danella and I are very pleased to have reached agreement to transfer our practice and join Norton White.

“Norton White is acknowledged as a leader in transport law, with strong historical connections to the shipping and transport industry.”

The trio will be based in Norton White’s Sydney office.
