Northline is only weeks away from moving into its new Smithfield facility in Sydney.
The $24 million custom-made warehouse, which is 32,000 square-metres big, will host 64 staff.
It is part of Northline’s long-term plan, CEO Craige Whitton says.
“The company is 30 years old this year, so, for us, it’s important to be planning for the next 30 and that investment in Sydney is part of that,” Whitton says.
“We’re on a growth strategy but we’re doing it organically; we’re doing it by improving our service, by improving our communication and the relationships we have with customers.
“It’s really important for us to understand their needs, to understand what those requirements mean and to innovate and structure a service accordingly.”
Northline moves around 2.5 million tonnes of freight each year and expects to reach the same figure this year.
With customer’s needs constantly changing, their expectations are also rising with service requirements falling back on the transport provider.
By building the Smithfield facility, Northline will meet those needs, Whitton says.
