Nominations open for Craig Roseneder Award

Opportunity for workshop managers and mechanics to be recognised

Nominations are now open for this year’s Craig Roseneder Award, which recognises top-performing workshop managers and mechanics.

The award is open to anyone who works full-time as a workshop manager or mechanic in the Australian trucking industry for a trucking company, supplier or commercial workshop.

The gong will be presented at this year’s Technical and Maintenance Conference on October 28 to recognise technical and maintenance excellence in the workshop by an individual.

The winner will receive a trip to the American Trucking Associations’ 2015 Technology and Maintenance Council Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition.

The prize includes registration, return airfares, premium accommodation, $1,500 in spending money and a partner’s program registration if applicable. The winner will also receive complimentary registration to next year’s Technical and Maintenance Conference.

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA), which runs the award, says previous winners have been some of the country’s most dedicated workshop professionals.

“[The] 2013 Craig Roseneder winner Wayne Merrick from Boral Logistics developed and introduced a number of important safety features to their fleet after listening to complaints from drivers, including a tailgate lock indicator for tipper bins and LED undersill door lights,” ATA CEO Stuart St Clair says.

“It’s this sort of can-do attitude that really sets our winners apart. If you know an outstanding workshop manager or mechanic like this, I urge you to nominate them for this award.”

St Clair says workshop staff play an essential part in making sure operators have have safe, reliable vehicles on the road.

“But as well as keeping vehicles in top shape, many workshops actively push to improve safety in our industry by developing new solutions to trucking problems,” he says.
