The regulator is making suggestions for those impacted by more rain in Queensland
With more rain continuing to fall across Queensland, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is warning transport operators in the state to remain safe and vigilant in the different conditions.
The NHVR released a series of photos from Transport and Main Roads Queensland of the weather conditions on its Facebook page, with rain slamming down on key freight routes such as along Nicklin Way and Gannawarra Street, as well as Toowoomba – Cohoe Street.
“As rain continues across Queensland, please take extra caution on the roads over the coming days,” the NHVR says.
“Remember if it’s flooded, forget it!”
To remain best prepared to drive through the weather, the NHVR is using advice from previous weather events earlier in the year to keep drivers safe.

This includes urging drivers to check the local road conditions through state road manager websites and checking with local emergency services or recovery operations if travelling in an affected area.

The NHVR also wants operators to ensure that their vehicle is able to travel on the existing network, as it recommends drivers to avoid using back tracks or off-network roads to get around road closures.
Along with safety checks, the NHVR suggests understanding emergency fatigue provisions, as emergency directions for fatigue don’t always exempt an operator from managing fatigue individually.
