New website for ANCAP

ANCAP launches new website, offering a range of safety information for new vehicle buyers

July 12, 2010

The Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has launched a new website, offering a range of safety information for new vehicle buyers.

The new site offers more information, easier access and an explanation of the ANCAP testing regime.

“Our latest ANOP market research has shown that more people are aware of ANCAP and its role in crash testing vehicles and publicising their safety ratings – this new site will make it easier for new car buyers to compare the relative safety ratings of many new models in the market,” ANCAP boss Lauchlan McIntosh says.

“We welcome visitors to the site to learn about the benefits of choosing a safer car.”

As well as testing passenger cars, commercial vehicles are also tested by ANCAP, allowing buyers to compare the relative safety merits of different vehicles.

ANCAP has also recently entered into a 5-year funding partnership with the Commonwealth which will allow increased crash testing, more research into vehicle safety and safety technology, and increased collaboration with other Crash Assessment Programs around the world.

ANCAP is supported by the Australian government, all Australian and New Zealand motoring clubs, all Australian state governments, the New Zealand government, the Victorian Transport Accident Commission, NRMA Insurance and the FIA Foundation.
