New warehouse opens for fast-growing eStore Logistics

New facility takes footprint to 43,000 square metres with more to come

eStore Logistics, Australia’s largest 3PL warehousing and order fulfilment business for online stores, has launched a new 13,000sqm Melbourne warehouse.

The Derrimut facility features 12,500 pallet positions, 18,000 pick bin locations and state of the art security, with over 45 high-resolution video surveillance cameras.

As detailed in ATN magazine’s October issue, eStore Logistics already has a formidable warehousing and distribution empire, with an existing facility in Derrimut plus additional ones in Truganina and Erskine Park in Sydney.

They are set to open a second Sydney facility next year, which will take their total footprint to nearly 60,000sqm.

The facility is designed for storage and fast, accurate dispatch of goods for the business’s e-commerce and omni-channel retail clients.

Managing director, Leigh Williams, says location was crucial in choosing the site for the new warehouse, being 20 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from Australia Post’s main parcel sorting centre, 20 minutes from the Toll IPEC parcel sorting centre and 5 minutes from the eStore Logistics Derrimut headquarters.

During its peak the new warehouse will fulfil over 8,000 orders a day, bringing the national daily order fulfilment capacity to 45,000.

The facility is designed to be scaled based on seasonality, business growth and new clients.

Williams says business optimisation and growth have been the main drivers for the requirement to open the additional warehouse.

The business has grown 30-40 per cent every year over the last three years and boasts clients such as Kogan, Hairhouse Warehouse, Dick Smith and Patagonia.

eStore Logistics is currently hiring additional staff for the new warehouse, including forklift drivers, pick and pack, administration, customer service and IT.

It expects to require 80 new staff during its peak.

Williams thanked clients and staff for supporting the business.

“Our clients have maintained trust in our service and our staff have enabled the business to continue its fast growth while maintaining superior customer service to clients.”

Last year the company won the Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia Information and Technology Management award for their revolutionary freight optimisation management system.
