New rest areas to combat fatigue in Victoria

July 8, 2013

Two new truck rest areas are now open on the Geelong Ring Road at Warun Ponds, Victoria.

The stops are located on each side of the road and have four truck holding bays, nine truck parking bays and 13 car parking spots, including two disabled parking spaces.

The Victorian Government says up to 9,000 vehicles use the road every day and that the stops will help drivers combat fatigue.

“We have also taken great care to limit the rest stops’ environmental footprint, with solar electricity for lighting, rain water reticulation and self-contained sewer systems,” Victorian Transport Minister Terry Mulder says.

“The $1.4 million rest areas are part of the Geelong Ring Road Section 4B project, which was completed in February this year.”
