The time leading into the Christmas period is, traditionally, air freight’s peak season.
This year, DB Schenker has established a partnership with cargo.one to digitally connect with dozens more airlines across the globe to ease the strain on the impending expected annual peak season.
The collaboration means DB Schenker’s portfolio of live capacity access airlines from nine to over 50 total, meaning the global logistics provider is in a better position to identify suitable capacities and fitting rates for customers.
Founder and Co-CEO of cargo.one Moritz Claussen says his company can help fill DB Schenker’s growing demand for rapid short-date air freight sourcing.
“DB Schenker has chosen cargo.one to further speed up its path to powerful digital transformation,” Claussen says.
“We are thrilled to provide a state-of-the-art air freight procurement platform that boosts efficiency, accuracy, and user-friendliness for our new partner. With cargo.one’s top-tier infrastructure, DB Schenker can elevate customer satisfaction and sharpen its competitive edge.”
“The demand for rapid short-dated sourcing of air freight capacities and market prices has grown in relevance as global supply chain disruptions have become a normality and e-commerce demand for air transport keeps rising.
“Therefore, since 2022, DB Schenker has established direct API interfaces with nine airlines from Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and Asia.”
The partnership means DB Schenker now has access to book with over 50 total airlines and can act in tandem with cargo.one as a digital connector between airlines and freight forwarders.
DB Schenker Global Board Member for Air & Ocean Freight Thorsten Meincke says the collaboration is further evidence of DB Schenker’s ability to improve its capacity in high-demand markets.
“We continue to digitalise transportation by establishing solutions that are highly demanded on the market,” Meincke says.
“By boosting our access to available airline capacities, we save time for our customers and make processes faster, smoother, and more efficient for them.
“cargo.one is the perfect fit for this endeavour as they bring profound expertise in managing the massive amount of real-time data to the game.”
Founded in 2017, cargo.one is used by over 120,000 freight forwarders in 121 countries and manages instant booking across more than 60 airlines.
DB Schenker is one of the world’s leading logistics services and boasts over 72,000 employees in more and 1850 locations and 130 countries, and offers land, air and ocean transportation services.
