Victorian Premier's move comes as Paccar announces it will unveil developments in its product range

A big political gun has rolled around in support the city’s heavy vehicle equivalent, the International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show (ITTES).
Victorian Premier Denis Napthine has issued a statement backing the event.
“The International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show is a growing event expected to attract over 40,000 people, with an additional day added to the 2014 Show,” Napthine says.
“As the freight and logistics capital of Australia, Victoria is the ideal location for this event.”
The development comes just days after Paccar Australia confirmed its involvement.
“Over the coming months, we will be working on some new product developments that will be released at the show,” Sales and Marketing Director Andrew Hadjikakou says, describing the show’s attraction in showcasing Paccar’s Kenworth and DAF product ranges.
While Cat and Hendickson have withdrawn from the event, the strong backing from other quarters, including Scania, G&A Lombardi and the Victorian Transport Association (VTA), will be of solace, while organisers report that the Main Area Pavilion has been sold out.
Napthine described the event as “a key opportunity for people and transport companies to meet and share ideas, showcase new vehicles, equipment and technologies, and to establish business relationships”.
“I warmly welcome our international and interstate visitors to Victoria, and encourage you to experience all Melbourne has to offer during your stay, including our acclaimed shopping districts, vibrant arts scenes and diverse cuisine.
“I congratulate the organisers of the International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show on what is sure to be another successful event.”
