Victorians are being invited to name the twin tunnels that are set to be opened as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project, with every entry set to go into the draw to win a $500 Shell Coles Express voucher.
All submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee with the final names to be revealed later this year.
The winners of the competition will also have the opportunity to donate $2500 towards a community organisation or charity.
Submissions are open until Monday, March 31.
“This is a great opportunity for people to make their mark on this city-shaping project, which will change the way people move for decades to come,” Minister for Transport Infrastructure Gabrielle Williams says.
“The West Gate Tunnel Project will deliver better connections between Melbourne’s west and the city, taking 9000 trucks off local roads.”
The tunnels will offer Victorian road users an alternative to the West Gate Bridge and provide a much-needed second river crossing to cut congestion.
It is expected the tunnels will be open to motorists in late 2025. The project was initially announced in 2015 with major construction commencing in 2018.
