MTAA CEO steps down

The MTAA and CEO Matt Hobbs have mutually agreed it is best for Hobbs to step down from the role effective April 11

The restructure of operations within the Motor Trades Association of Australia (MTAA) has seen the association and its CEO Matt Hobbs mutually agree “the time is right” for Hobbs to step down from the role.

Hobbs’ tenure as CEO will conclude on 11 April 2025. In his time leading the organisation he has played a vital role in advocating for key industry reforms and support packages for industry including the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES) and the Motor Vehicle Insurance and Repair Industry Code of Conduct.

“Matt has been a passionate advocate for the automotive sector, leading vital industry discussions and representing the interests of our members with professionalism and dedication,” MTAA Chair Frank Agostino says.

“We thank him for his tireless efforts and wish him every success in his future endeavours.”

Current MTA Queensland CEO Rod Camm has been appointed as interim CEO of the MTAA, with further updates regarding the leadership transition set to be provided in due course.

The MTAA says it will “continue to prioritise key industry initiatives” while the leadership transition is ongoing alongside all its member associations – MTA QLD, MTA NSW, MTA WA, MTA SA/NT and the VACC/TACC.

The appointment of Camm as interim CEO will “ensure the organisation remains focused on delivering critical industry outcomes while a permanent appointment is considered,” the MTAA says.
