Motor Trade Association of Western Australia announces new CEO

The peak body representing the automotive industry in Western Australia will have a new boss from next Monday.

Neil Le Febvre was appointed yesterday as the new Group CEO of the Motor Trade Association of Western Australia (MTA WA), bringing more than 30 years of leadership experience to the table.

Le Febvre’s career spans financial technology, health insurance, agriculture, mining and membership-based organisations with highlights including leading major business transformations, overseeing a $70 million European fintech start-up in partnership with a major bank, contributing to the securing of more than $500 million in capital, and executive responsibility for business units generating more than $1.6 billion in annual revenue.

Most recently he served as CEO of Outdoors WA. He has also held governance roles with the Outdoor Council of Australia, the World Trails Network, and Curtin University.

MTA WA President Robyn Cook says the Association is entering an important chapter as the automotive industry navigates rapid change and evolving workforce needs.

“We are evolving in response to significant technological advances and workforce pressures – a moment that calls for strong, strategic leadership,” Cook says.

“Neil brings an exceptional combination of commercial acumen, advocacy strength and people-focused leadership.

“His capacity to understand complex sectors quickly, unite stakeholders and drive evidence-based outcomes made him an outstanding candidate.

“The Board is confident he will continue strengthening the MTA WA’s advocacy, training offering and member services at a time when the industry needs stability, forward-thinking leadership and a strong, credible voice.”

Le Febvre says he is looking forward to working closely with industry.

“I’m excited to join the MTA WA at a pivotal time for our industry. My focus over the coming months will be to listen carefully to members, understand the challenges and opportunities ahead, and work collaboratively to deliver real and lasting outcomes.

“The automotive sector is evolving rapidly, and we have a responsibility to advocate strongly, support businesses to adapt and invest in a skilled workforce for the future.

“I look forward to engaging with members, industry partners and government as we build on the strengths of the MTA WA and continue positioning Western Australia as a leader in automotive capability, innovation and training.”

He says MTA WA will continue to focus on training too.

“MTA WA Training has a proud history of training the next generation of automotive professionals. It is one of our greatest strengths, and one we will continue to grow as we equip tradespeople with future-focused skills and promote apprenticeships as a pathway to long and rewarding careers,” he says.
