Metcash dumps Oracle for SAP finance platform

Retail number three Metcash will overhaul its financial management systems, defecting from Oracle to SAP.

Retail number three Metcash will overhaul its financial management systems, defecting from Oracle to SAP.

SAP will work with Fujitsu Australia to integrate a new platform including finance, treasury and risk management, property management and compliance modules.

SAP boasts the system will improve process efficiencies and ensure the company is compliant with regulatory requirements. SAP had been using Oracle’s PeopleSoft system for eight years.

The new software will be rolled out over the next year, with phased functionality planned.

Adrian Gratwicke, Finance GM at Metcash, says SAP understood the business.

“SAP will enable Metcash to bring together previously disparate third-party products like fixed assets, real estate and claim-backs into an integrated, controlled environment, increasing visibility and financial and operational efficiencies,” he says.

SAP gold partner Fujitsu will put up to 20 SAP consultants on site to manage the integration.
