Melbourne dealer wins top DAF prize

Paccar Trucks Melbourne makes "significant contribution" to increasing Australian market share

April 22, 2013

Paccar Trucks Melbourne has won the 2012 DAF Dealer of the Year Award for outstanding truck and parts sales, finance, service and support.

It is the second time the dealership has won DAF’s top gong, having previously won in 2007.

Established in 1999, Paccar Trucks Melbourne services the western and northern suburbs of Melbourne as well as Ballarat, Geelong and surrounding districts. Based in Derrimut in Melbourne’s west, it is close to the Westgate Freeway and the Western Ring Road.

“Paccar Trucks Melbourne has made a significant contribution to DAF’s increasing market share,” Paccar Australia Managing Director Mike Dozier says.

“It continues to meet and exceed customer needs by investing in staff training, specialist equipment and maintaining modern facilities.”

The Melbourne dealership sits on almost five hectares and features a large display of DAF and Kenworth models in a variety of configurations. It also has an AllRig parts supermarket with $3 million in stock.

It employs 41 mechanics (including specialists from Europe) and has 30 service bays, with four fast lube service pits and a wide variety of specialist tooling including a range of advanced diagnostic equipment.

Paccar Trucks Melbourne offers servicing at customers’ premises, as well as a 24-hour breakdown service and emergency parts support.

“Throughout 2012 we saw a significant increase in the number of new customers, and strong sales from existing customers expanding their DAF fleets,” Paccar Trucks Melbourne General Manager Andrew McKenzie says.

He says the most popular models in 2012 were DAF’s compact LF55 for metropolitan deliveries of palletised freight, and the top-of-the-range DAF XF105 for intrastate and interstate car carriers and general freight.

McKenzie says as well as a traditional European driveline, DAF can offer customers operating “in more challenging environments” a North American driveline with Australia’s Kenworth Airglide suspension.
