After more than 15 years growing its customer list in the Western Australian market PFD Food Services has unveiled plans to build a 22,290 sqm distribution centre at the Ascend Industrial Estate at Jandakot Airport.
This week marked the start of construction and the “sod turning” ceremony for the new facility which the company says will improve service delivery to meet the changing needs of customers and support regional operations in Geraldton, Bunbury, Albury, Esperance and Kalgoorie.
PFD Western Australia and Northern Territory general manager Tony Pascov says the investment reflects the company’s commitment to the region and its desire to provide the best service possible for its customers.
“Over 17 years, we’ve proudly built strong, long-lasting relationships with local businesses and an upgraded facility is needed to meet capacity,” Pascov says.
“We’re excited about this next step for PFD as we continue to bring people together through food across Western Australia.”
PFD launched in WA in 2008 with 130 people and 22 trucks. It is currently based in Banjup, five minutes from the new facility, and has been at the site since 2009.
Today, PFD has 276 staff and more than 60 trucks, supports a number of local sporting and charitable organisations, and has customers in Kununurra to the north, Albany to the south, Denham to the west, and Madura to the east.
From the transport perspective, the PFD Western Australia team covered a total of 2.5 million kilometres last year.

The new facility will house state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment including energy-efficient refrigerated storage rooms, supported by a modern two-storey office space, truck maintenance facilities and environmental features including roof-mounted solar panels.
The project is being delivered by Dexus for PFD, as part of the ASCEND Industrial Estate, which is jointly owned by Dexus, Cbus Super and Dexus Industria REIT. It is expected to open in October 2026.
PFD now operates a network of 50 branches and employs 3,000 people across Australia, partnering with food suppliers to deliver a comprehensive range of dry goods, frozen and chilled products, fresh seafood and meat, confectionery, paper products and cleaning solutions.
In 2024, Woolworths Group acquired a 100 per cent interest in PFD following a strategic partnership between the two businesses.
