Maersk introduces new AU/NZ import tariffs

Maersk Line is introducing new IFD tariffs on all imports to Australia and New Zealand, effective October 1

Maersk Line has announced a raft of new import charges for those shipping goods into Australia and New Zealand, with a new infrastructure fee import (IFD) charge up of up to AUD$255 set to be applied to Australia’s ports.

The increase is the latest in a number of charge increases implemented by the organisation, with new inland equipment positioning charges, vehicle booking service fees and increased origin and destination terminal handling charges also recently coming into effect.

The new IFD tariffs for store door delivery of all container types are as follows:

  • Melbourne $255
  • Sydney $225
  • Brisbane $250
  • Fremantle $105
  • Adelaide $215
  • Devonport $255
  • Townsville $250

The New Zealand ports of Auckland, Auckland Metroport, Lyttleton, Tauranga, Napier, Nelson, Timaru, Port Chalmers and Wellington are included on Maersk’s list, however additional charges are cited as NZ$0.

“Maersk constantly strives to provide more reliable and innovative products,” a release from the organisation says.

“We offer the broadest coverage and competitive transit times at an unmatched reliability.

“To continue offering our broad portfolio of services and high level of reliability, we are introducing Infrastructure Fee Import for all containers from world to Australia and New Zealand via ports effective from October 1, 2024 for regulated and non-regulated countries.”

Peak season surcharges ranging from US$300-US$500 have also recently been implemented from Far East Asia to IMEA.
