Peter Baumann has been a staple of LIQUI MOLY’s extensive international presence over the past four decades, but the “living legend” has now retired from his Marketing Director role at the lubricant specialist and handed the reins to Marco Esser.

Esser, who previously held the role of Deputy Marketing Director and is the former Head of Corporate Communications at LIQUI MOLY, will be the first new appointment to the role of Marketing Director since Baumann stepped into the role in 1993.

After commencing his journey as an assistant to management in 1986, Baumann has provided 39 years of service to the Ulm-based company and been the linchpin of a magnitude of high-profile partnerships, including Formula 1 team Sauber Motorsport in 1993, Bundesliga side TSV 1860 Munich in 2000, or for over 10 years with MotoGP.

Newly appointed Marketing Director Esser says following in Baumann’s footsteps is a “great honour”.

“Such a long history with just as many successes doesn’t come along too often,” Esser says.

“Following Mr. Baumann in this role is a great honour on one hand, and a huge challenge on the other.

“We have had a very good, long and intensive period of coordination, for which I am very grateful. I am especially grateful for the trust of Mr. Baumann and his staff, I will do everything I can to adequately succeed him.

“I now take my hat off to his ‘term of office’ and wish him the very best in his retirement. There will always be a place for him with us in the LIQUI MOLY family worldwide, which of course he knows.”

After four decades servicing LIQUI MOLY’s growth across the globe, which culminated in the company’s ‘Official Partner’ status with Formula 1, Baumann’s initial plan for his retirement is simple.

“I mainly want to take care of my family and myself,” he says. “No appointments, no travel, no meetings.

“It’s time for something else. Time has been in short supply to date, but I’m going to take it all in my stride now.

“Being part of this team, being part of this family, makes me grateful, humble and extremely proud all at the same time.

“I would like to thank all those who made my time at LIQUI MOLY what it was – absolutely unique.”

LIQUI MOLY’s catalogue of products includes roughly 4000 items, and are available in around 150 countries worldwide.
